Julia Ongchoco

Hey there! I’m a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where I studied Cognitive Science and Theatre Arts. I’m particularly obsessed with the power of language and the beauty of moving images, which has led me to my current role in New York at Library Films, a documentary production company led by Chris Smith, where I’ve helped on documentaries like 100 Foot Wave, Don’t Die, and Mr. McMahon. My personal work and interests explore the intersectionality of humans, art, and cognitive science.

I create custom solutions for productivity and production workflows, from automated archival spreadsheets and footage logs to building custom task management and expense trackers. I utilize Google Apps Script to allow for sending custom email notifications and custom phone applications from your spreadsheets. Reach out if you’re curious to see some things I’ve made possible!

writing

I’m interested in the intricacies of words, structure of sentences, what makes a good story, and how stories help us make sense of our experiences. For my research thesis, I was mentored by Anna Papafragou and Tyler Knowlton at the University of Pennsylvania as part of its Language and Cognition Lab.
